Saint Lucy tore her beautiful eyes out to get rid of a suitor. Does God really find this pleasing? He created her in His image and likeness and she would just mangle her face just like that? Why didn’t she just escape or explain her refusal to be courted? Couldn’t she serve God while keeping the beauty that He blessed her with?
